About National Farm Toy Museum
Dyersville is known as the farm toy capital because it houses factories that have produced miniature tractors and combines since the mid-20th century. The National Farm Toy Museum opened in 1987 to tell that story and that of American farming.
There are thousands of miniatures across two floors, from early cast-iron tractors of the early 20th century to today’s detailed models in various brands and scales. Dioramas show whole farms in miniature, and exhibits cover changes in machinery and farm labor.
On the first weekend of June and in early November, the town hosts farm toy collectors’ shows centered on the museum. The museum is open daily, with shorter hours on Sundays.
