About Field of Dreams Movie Site

The Field of Dreams baseball field, featuring Kevin Costner, was built in 1988 on a farm near Dyersville. After filming, the families who owned the land kept the field and the white wooden house from the story, and the site began receiving visitors who wanted to play ball, run the bases, or disappear into the corn like the players in the film.

The field, the house, and the small grandstand remain as they appeared in the movie. Around them, corn grows in spring and summer and is harvested in autumn. The film’s most remembered line, about building something so people will come, is echoed on signs and mementos in the shop.

The site is owned by a nonprofit that built a stadium next door for professional games and youth tournaments. On game days or during major events, access to the original field may change; check the schedule before you go.
