About Nubian Museum
The Nubian Museum occupies a slope south of the center, in a stone building inspired by Nubian architecture, with a garden of regional plants. It was created to house items found during UNESCO's campaign to save the monuments of Nubia.
The rooms tell the region’s history, from prehistory through the pharaonic, Christian and Islamic periods, with statues, jewelry, ceramics and models of the saved temples. One section shows life in Nubian villages before Lake Nasser, with reconstructions of houses, clothing and objects.
In the garden there are reconstructed tombs and houses and a watercourse that recalls the Nile, an outdoor path among palm trees and desert plants.
