When to go

It rains all year. From August to November there is less rain, boat trips are easier and, when the river falls, white sand beaches often appear. From March to July rains are heavier, with May the peak. Days are hot and humid year‑round.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The town is small and can be walked, or covered by taxi or motorcycle taxi. Trips to the beaches, islands and the Serra do Curicuriari are made by boat, with local boat pilots and guides.
