About Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center
The Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, next to the park’s west entrance, is a nonprofit that houses brown bears and wolves that cannot return to the wild, typically orphaned animals or those that became habituated to seeking food near people.
The bears live in an outdoor enclosure with logs, rocks and a pond, and the wolves live in packs in separate areas. Throughout the day keepers hide food in the enclosures and the bears search for it in front of the public. The center also has birds of prey, otters and an exhibit about the region’s animals and coexistence with them.
It’s a way to see up close animals that in the park usually appear only from a distance, and it operates year-round.
