About Buffalo Bill Center of the West
The Buffalo Bill Center of the West brings five museums together under one roof in downtown Cody. The first, opened in 1927, tells the life of William Cody, Buffalo Bill — hunter, army scout, and creator of a traveling show about the West that toured the United States and Europe.
The other museums cover Western art, with paintings and sculptures by artists such as Frederic Remington; the Plains Indigenous peoples, with clothing, objects, and stories told from their own perspectives; firearms, with one of the country’s largest collections; and the natural history of the Yellowstone region.
A full visit takes more than one day, and the admission ticket often is valid for two consecutive days. In summer there are demonstrations with birds of prey and outdoor presentations.
