Stateline – Nevada Destination Lake Tahoe

How to get there

  • Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) Reno · 95 km

Approximate distances. Check flights and bus, train or boat schedules before you travel.

By car from Reno, via US-395 and US-50, in about an hour and a half (95 km). It sits next to South Lake Tahoe, a few minutes on foot or by local bus.

How many days

Half a day for the Van Sickle trail and another half for Rabe Meadow and Nevada Beach. Those who stay in Stateline often use it as a base for the entire south shore of the lake, together with South Lake Tahoe.

When to go

From June to September, for beach and trails, with dry days and cool nights. From December to March there is snow and skiing in the surrounding mountains; in winter Van Sickle only receives visitors on foot.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

For Van Sickle and for Rabe Meadow, no: the trailheads are a walk from the state-line hotels. A car helps to reach Nevada Beach with beach gear and to drive around the lake.
