Honolulu – Hawaii Destination Honolulu and Oahu Capital

How to get there

  • Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) 10 km
  • Aloha Tower Marketplace Cruise Terminal (Pier 2) 1 km

Approximate distances. Check flights and bus, train or boat schedules before you travel.

Daniel K. Inouye International Airport is about 10 km from downtown and 15 km from Waikiki, with city buses, taxis, and ride-hail cars. Cruise ships dock at the port near the Aloha Tower in downtown.

How many days

Three days are enough to see Waikiki, Diamond Head, Pearl Harbor, and the historic downtown. With four or five days you can add the Bishop Museum, Hanauma Bay, and a beach day.

When to go

Warm weather lasts year-round, with afternoons between 27 °C and 32 °C. The driest season runs from April to October. From November to March it rains a bit more and nights are cooler. U.S. summer holidays and the end of year are busier.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The TheBus network connects Waikiki with downtown, Pearl Harbor, Hanauma Bay, and other parts of the island. A car is helpful for getting to Hanauma early and for coastal drives, but parking in Waikiki is expensive.
