When to go

From May to October days are usually pleasant, with afternoon storms from July to September. In winter the town often has snow and cold, and the Arizona Snowbowl ski area operates on the nearby peaks.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

For downtown, no: you can walk and there are city buses. For Walnut Canyon, the Grand Canyon and Sedona, a car is the most practical option.
