About John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum
The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum is on Hyannis’s main street, near Hyannis Port, where the Kennedy family had summer homes from the 1920s. The museum explains John F. Kennedy’s connection to Cape Cod, from childhood through his years as president, when the family home became known as the “Summer White House.”
The exhibition brings together photographs of the family sailing, at the beach and at gatherings, many taken by photographers who followed the Kennedys, along with videos, letters and personal items. One section covers the siblings and other family members and their public roles.
The museum also highlights Kennedy’s love of the sea and sailing in the Nantucket Sound. Temporary exhibits change throughout the year.
Near the museum, along Hyannis’s waterfront, there is a memorial with a fountain and a plaque dedicated to the president, facing Lewis Bay.
