About Craigville Beach

Craigville Beach is in Centerville, about 7 km from Hyannis, on a roughly 1 km stretch of sand facing Nantucket Sound. The islands shelter this side of Cape Cod from Atlantic waves, and the sea is usually calm, generally between 18 °C and 22 °C at the height of summer, warmer than the beaches on the east side.

The beach has a town-managed section with lifeguards, restrooms and a snack bar in summer, and another section frequented by local residents. Behind the sand lies Red Lily Pond, and the Craigville summer cottages—originally a 19th-century religious camp—sit on the adjacent hill.

It is one of the most popular south-side beaches for families because of the shallow water and wide sand. At dusk, the low light illuminates the sound and distant boats.

Beach parking is paid in summer and fills up early on hot days.
