About Silver Dollar City

Silver Dollar City opened in 1960 on a wooded slope west of Branson, around the entrance to Marvel Cave, a cavern visited since the 19th century. The park recreates an 1880s Ozark mountain village, with wooden houses, dirt streets and residents in period costumes.

One of the park’s hallmarks is its artisans: glassblowers, blacksmiths, potters, candy makers and soap makers work in view of the public and sell their pieces. There are theaters with bluegrass, gospel and country music.

For thrill-seekers there are roller coasters such as the wooden Outlaw Run and the Time Traveler, which spins while it runs, plus water rides and a children’s area. The guided tour of Marvel Cave, which descends about 150 meters, is included with admission and requires climbing many steps on the way back, part of the return by train.

The calendar changes festival by festival throughout the year, with highlights including the harvest festival in autumn and Christmas, when millions of lights are on display.
