About Slaughter Pen Trail System
Slaughter Pen is Bentonville’s best-known trail network, in a woodland and valley area north of downtown. The routes were opened for mountain biking and connect to other city trails and to the Razorback Greenway, the region’s paved trail.
There are easy packed-dirt paths for beginners and technical sections with rocks, jumps and banked turns for experienced riders. A skills area near the entrance lets you practice before entering the woods. Signs indicate each trail’s difficulty.
Sculptures and art installations appear along the routes, a common feature of Bentonville’s trails. Pedestrians also use parts of the network.
The main trailhead is near Lake Bella Vista Park and J Street, a few minutes by bike from downtown.
