Moab – Utah about 375 km from Salt Lake City

How to get there

  • Canyonlands Regional Airport (CNY) 25 km

Approximate distances. Check flights and bus, train or boat schedules before you travel.

Canyonlands Airport (CNY) is about 25 km north, with regional flights. By car, Moab is about four hours from Salt Lake City and about two hours from Grand Junction, Colorado, via I-70 and US-191. Shuttle vans connect the town with those airports.

How many days

Two days allow one park per day. With three or four days you can add a river or desert activity and the longer hikes, such as Devils Garden.

When to go

Spring and fall have the most pleasant days and the highest visitation. Summer is very hot, and trails should be done at dawn. In winter the town is quiet, with nights below zero.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

Yes. The parks are outside town and there is no public transport to them. In town, the downtown area is small and walkable.
