About Cleopatra's Bath
Cleopatra’s Bath lies west of Marsa Matruh bay on a limestone rocky headland by the Mediterranean. It is a natural pool carved into the rock where the sea flows in through openings and mixes with the calm water of the tank.
Local tradition says Queen Cleopatra bathed there, which gave the place its name, though there is no ancient record confirming this. Surrounding the site are white-sand beaches and clear water.
In the summer season the spot attracts many bathers; outside the season, it’s a quiet coastal outing.
The surrounding rocks form other small pools at low tide, and the shoreline allows walking to neighboring beaches.
