About Pyramids of Giza
The Giza plateau holds the three great pyramids of the 4th dynasty, built around 2600–2500 BCE. The Great Pyramid of Khufu originally measured about 146 meters and was the tallest structure in the world for millennia; Khafre’s preserves part of the limestone casing at the top; Menkaure’s is the smallest of the three.
Around them are smaller queens’ pyramids, cemeteries of nobles’ tombs and funerary and valley temples, linked by causeways. The Great Pyramid is the only one of the seven wonders of the ancient world that remains standing.
The interior of some pyramids can be visited via narrow, low corridors with a separate ticket: check the current schedule. Desert viewpoints to the west show the three pyramids aligned.
