About Cairo Tower
The Cairo Tower stands on Gezira Island, in the Zamalek neighborhood, in the middle of the Nile. It was built between 1956 and 1961 and rises 187 meters, with a concrete lattice structure that resembles a lotus flower.
At the top, an open observation deck and a revolving restaurant show Cairo in all directions: the Nile and its bridges, downtown, the minarets of Islamic Cairo and, on clear days, the Giza pyramids to the west.
The tower is a city landmark and is close to other Zamalek attractions, such as the Cairo Opera House and the riverside gardens.
Access is by elevator, and the observation deck usually has queues in the late afternoon and on weekends, when many Cairo families go up to see the city.
