About Montaza Palace
The Montazah Gardens are in eastern Alexandria on a large seaside area. The Haramlik palace, of mixed style with towers and arches, was built in 1932 for King Fuad I and served as the royal family’s summer residence.
The palace is not usually open to visitors, but the gardens, with pine groves, palm trees and lawns, are open to the public and popular with families. On the seafront there are small beaches and a pier to a kiosk over the water.
It is a half-day outing, away from the center’s bustle.
The gardens have cafés and picnic areas, and Montazah Beach, within the complex, welcomes swimmers in summer.
