About Hog Bay Park
Hog Bay Park occupies an area of hills and former farmland in the southwest of the parish of Sandys, between Middle Road and the sea. It is one of the largest parks in western Bermuda and one of the least crowded.
Dirt trails pass through fields that were cultivated until the 20th century, past remains of rural buildings and the ruins of a kiln where limestone was burned to make lime for building and whitewashing roofs. The vegetation mixes native trees and species introduced to the island.
A path descends to Hog Bay, an inlet of shallow water and reefs, good for snorkeling on calm days. From the high ground of the park you can see the southwest coast and the offshore reef.
