About Crystal Cave and Fantasy Cave
Crystal Cave and Fantasy Cave are two separate caves with entrances a few steps apart on a property near Bailey's Bay. According to the story told on site, Crystal Cave was discovered in 1907 by two boys searching for a lost cricket ball.
At Crystal Cave, about 88 steps lead to the bottom, where floating walkways cross a very clear saltwater lake beneath stalactites and columns. Fantasy Cave, smaller and with a steeper descent, has delicate straw-like formations hanging from the ceiling; it was closed for decades and reopened in 2001.
Tours are always guided and depart several times a day. You can visit one cave or both; for both, allow about one hour and fifteen minutes, plus waiting time. Swimming in the lakes is not allowed.
