Harrington Sound is a large saltwater lagoon in the east of Bermuda, connected to the ocean only by a narrow channel at Flatts, where the tide runs strong under the bridge. Around it are the parish of Hamilton, which is not the same as the capital city, and part of Smith's parish.

The limestone bedrock is full of caves. Near Bailey's Bay, Crystal Cave and Fantasy Cave are visited with a guide, on walkways over underground lakes of clear water, among stalactites and delicate calcite formations. Nearby, Blue Hole Park has mangroves, lagoons and open caves.

In Flatts Village, by the channel, is the Aquarium, Museum and Zoo of Bermuda, opened in 1926, featuring the fish and corals of the reef and animals from island habitats around the world. On the north shore, Shelly Bay has shallow, calm water.

To the south, in Smith's, Spittal Pond Nature Reserve, the largest protected wildlife area in Bermuda, follows the cliff tops, near John Smith's Bay beach and the historic Verdmont house.
