About National Puppet Museum Rosete Aranda (MUNATI)

The Museo Nacional del Títere is housed in a large traditional building in Huamantla’s center and is dedicated to puppets and puppet theater figures. The town was home to the Rosete Aranda family, who in the 19th century created one of Mexico’s best-known puppet companies and toured the country with their shows.

The galleries display the company’s puppets, with settings and figures of popular characters, alongside puppets from other countries in the Americas, Europe and Asia. There are string puppets, glove puppets and rod puppets, plus explanations of how they are made and operated.

The museum welcomes families and school groups and sometimes hosts performances and workshops.
