About National Museum of Photography
The National Museum of Photography occupies part of the former convent of San Francisco, built by the Franciscans from the late 16th century in downtown Pachuca. The same complex houses the National Photographic Archive of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), which preserves one of the largest photographic collections in Latin America.
The rooms show the history of photography, from early cameras and 19th-century techniques to images of the Mexican Revolution and works by Mexican photographers of the 20th century. There are also temporary exhibitions featuring material from the collection.
The convent has a cloister, chapels and the church of San Francisco, and the garden in front is a meeting place for locals.
