About Peña del Aire
La Peña del Aire is a large rock block separated from a canyon wall, a few kilometers from downtown Huasca de Ocampo. The rock appears to hang over the ravine, with the river running far below.
A community-run ecological park provides access to the viewpoints on the canyon rim and to short trails through the forest. There are also adventure activities, paid separately.
From the rim you can see the Huasca valley, with fields and pine and oak woods.
The road to La Peña del Aire goes through rural roads and small communities, and the site is often combined on the same day with the Basalt Prisms and with the old silver-processing haciendas in the region, such as San Miguel Regla.
