About Sandy Beach
Sandy Beach stretches for several kilometers northwest of downtown Puerto Peñasco. The sand is light and fine, and the gulf’s water is usually calm, cooler in winter and warmer at the end of summer.
The beach is used for swimming, walking, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, and for boat trips to Isla de San Jorge, where sea lions and seabirds live. At low tide the sand strip becomes much wider.
Along the beach there are resorts, condominiums and vacation homes, with public access to the sand at several points. The sun sets over the sea, facing the beach, and in winter the sky usually clears late in the day.
