About Narsaq Museum
The Museum of Narsaq occupies some of the town’s oldest colonial-era buildings by the old harbor, where small fishing boats still land.
One of the permanent exhibitions tells of the arrival and life of the Norse settlers in southern Greenland: the voyages, the farms, the tools and the clothing. Other rooms show the town’s history, hunting and fishing, and the residents’ homes.
Narsaq lies in a region rich in rare minerals, and the museum displays stones from the nearby mountain, including tugtupite, a pink stone found there.
Near the museum are the small island of the old harbor, reachable on foot at low tide, and the market where fish, seal meat and products from local farms are sold.
