About Sabino Canyon Recreation Area

Sabino Canyon lies in the Santa Catalina Mountains north of Tucson and is part of the Coronado National Forest. The canyon has rock walls, saguaros on the slopes and a stream that usually has more water in winter after rains and in spring with mountain snowmelt.

A road closed to private cars climbs about 6 km through the canyon, crossing the stream on stone bridges. A narrated tram runs the road and allows you to get off at several stops to walk or return on foot. Trails climb the slopes and lead to viewpoints and seasonal waterfalls.

Neighboring Bear Canyon has the Seven Falls trail, a sequence of drops that often has water after rains. The area is much used by locals for early-morning walks.
