at your own pace.

Tucson is in southern Arizona, about 100 km from the border with Mexico, in a valley of the Sonoran Desert surrounded by five mountain ranges. It is one of the oldest cities in the U.S. Southwest: the Spanish presidio was founded in 1775, and Mexican culture and that of the Tohono Oʼodham people mark the city.

On both sides of the city stretches Saguaro National Park, with slopes covered by the giant cacti that have become a symbol of the Southwest. Next to the park’s west district, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum combines a zoo, botanical garden and natural history museum.

To the south, the white church of the San Xavier del Bac mission, from the late 18th century, still serves the Tohono Oʼodham community. To the east, the Pima Air & Space Museum houses hundreds of airplanes, beside a large boneyard of retired military aircraft. Sabino Canyon, to the north, has trails and a tram among stone cliffs.
