About Tower of the Americas
The Tower of the Americas was built for HemisFair ’68, the world’s fair that marked San Antonio’s 250th anniversary. It reaches 229 meters to the tip of the antenna and stands in Hemisfair Park, a few minutes from the River Walk.
A panoramic elevator rides in less than a minute to the observation deck, about 230 meters up, with indoor and outdoor terraces and views of downtown, the missions and the Hill Country hills. Just below, a revolving restaurant completes one full rotation each hour.
At ground level, Hemisfair Park has fountains, gardens, play areas for children and historic houses from the neighborhood that existed there before the fair, restored and open as cafés and shops.
