Approximate distances. Check flights and bus, train or boat schedules before you travel.
Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is about 8 km from downtown and is connected by light rail. Long-distance trains between Chicago and California stop at the city's station. By car, I-15 and I-80 cross the city.
How many days
Two days are enough for Temple Square, the capitol, a museum and Antelope Island. Many travelers spend one night before continuing to Park City, Moab or the southern national parks.
When to go
Summer is hot and dry, good for visiting Antelope Island early and for mountain hikes. In winter the city often has snow and serves as a base for the nearby canyon ski resorts. Spring and fall have mild days.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
Not downtown: light rail and buses serve Temple Square, the capitol and the airport. For Antelope Island and the ski areas, a car helps.
