When to go

From June to September the weather is usually dry and mild. In spring and fall there is frequent rain, but the gardens remain open. Winter tends to be rainy and cold, with snow in the city rare.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The MAX light rail, streetcars, and TriMet buses cover downtown, the neighborhoods, and the airport. A car is only useful for getting out of the city.
