About Bricktown
Bricktown was Oklahoma City’s warehouse and rail freight district in the early 20th century, named for its red-brick buildings. After decades of neglect, it was redeveloped beginning in the 1990s and became the city’s downtown entertainment area.
The Bricktown Canal, about 1.6 km long, cuts through the neighborhood with promenades, bridges, and fountains. Guided boat tours run the canal and tell the history of the city and district, and pedal boats and kayaks are available seasonally.
The warehouses house restaurants, music bars, shops, and hotels. The city’s minor-league baseball stadium sits in the neighborhood, with life-size player sculptures at the entrance, and the basketball arena is a few blocks away.
At the end of the canal, a group of life-size bronze sculptures recreates the 1889 land run, with horses, wagons, and settlers.
