Reno–Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is about 6 km from downtown and receives flights from several cities across the country. Amtrak trains on the Chicago–California route stop downtown. By car, I-80 links Reno to San Francisco and Salt Lake City.
How many days
One day allows you to see downtown, the river and the automobile museum. With an extra half day, include Virginia City.
When to go
From June to September days are usually hot and dry; in winter it’s cold, with snow on the surrounding mountains and ski season at Lake Tahoe.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
Not for downtown; yes for Virginia City and Lake Tahoe, or take a connecting bus.

It’s convenient for flying in: Reno’s airport is about an hour from Incline Village and about an hour and a half from South Lake Tahoe.
