About Space Center Houston
Space Center Houston is the official visitor center for the Johnson Space Center, NASA’s base in Houston where astronauts are trained and crewed flights are controlled. It is in the Clear Lake area, about 40 km from downtown.
The main building has capsules from real missions, space suits, rocks brought back from the Moon and exhibits about the International Space Station and upcoming missions. Outside, Independence Plaza displays a shuttle replica mounted on the Boeing 747 that carried it, and you can go inside both.
The tram tour crosses the NASA campus to the historic Apollo mission control room, restored to how it was at the time of the Moon landing, and to Rocket Park, where a full Saturn V rocket lies in a hangar. The tram route may change depending on NASA activities.
