About Hermann Park
Hermann Park covers about 180 hectares south of downtown Houston, adjacent to the museum district and the Texas Medical Center, one of the world’s largest hospital complexes. It was donated to the city by George Hermann in the early 20th century.
The park features McGovern Lake, with pedal boats, a Japanese garden, a rose garden, an outdoor theater that hosts free summer performances, and a small train that circles the park. The Reflection Pool, a long reflecting pool, connects the Sam Houston monument at the entrance to the lake.
The Houston Zoo, with animals from several continents, is located in the park, and the Museum of Natural Science occupies the northern edge.
