About Houston Museum of Natural Science
The Houston Museum of Natural Science sits on the edge of Hermann Park in the Museum District and is one of the most visited museums in the country. The Morian Paleontology Hall displays dozens of mounted skeletons in action poses, including tyrannosaurs and triceratops, arranged in chronological order.
The gem hall has large crystals and gemstones, and other halls cover ancient Egypt, indigenous cultures of the Americas, energy and Texas wildlife. The Cockrell Butterfly Center is a butterfly conservatory inside a glass cone, with a waterfall and hundreds of free-flying butterflies, and the Burke Baker Planetarium offers shows about the sky.
The museum is a good choice for families and for hot or rainy days.
