About Historic Pleasure Pier

Galveston’s Pleasure Pier is a pier that extends about 300 meters over the Gulf of Mexico from the Seawall. It recreates an amusement pier that stood on the site in the mid-20th century and was destroyed by a hurricane.

The pier features rides and attractions such as a roller coaster, a Ferris wheel, a carousel and spinning and drop rides, as well as games and concessions. From the end of the pier there are open views of the Gulf and the city’s shoreline.

The pier is liveliest at dusk and at night, with lights reflecting on the water. Entrance to the pier and rides are charged separately, with wristbands that grant unlimited access to attractions for the day, and some rides have minimum height requirements for children.
