About Detroit RiverWalk
The Detroit RiverWalk follows the Detroit River shoreline through downtown and the city’s east side, linking former industrial sites converted into plazas and gardens. From the promenade you can see Windsor across the water and the freighters moving between the Great Lakes.
The route passes Hart Plaza, a summer music festival venue, the William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor with a small lighthouse and wetlands, and Cullen Plaza with a carousel and play area. The Dequindre Cut, a lowered former rail line covered in graffiti, branches off the RiverWalk toward the Eastern Market.
The path is flat and suitable for walking or cycling, with benches and rest areas along the way.
