The city
The largest city in Michigan, on the banks of the Detroit River, facing Windsor in Canada. Birthplace of the American auto industry and the Motown record label, it has Art Deco skyscrapers downtown, the RiverWalk along the river, the Detroit Institute of Arts with Diego Rivera’s murals, the Eastern Market and the island-park Belle Isle. In Corktown, the restored Michigan Central Station welcomes visitors.
