From Anchorage, via the Parks Highway and the Talkeetna Spur Road, about 185 km. The Alaska Railroad stops in Talkeetna on trains between Anchorage and Denali during the summer season. Tour buses run the route in summer.
How many days
One or two days: one for the scenic flight and the village, and another day as a buffer in case weather cancels the flight.
When to go
From May to September, the season for flights and daily trains. In winter the village is quiet, with snow, few services and long nights.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
No. The center is walkable, and the scenic flight airstrip and the train station are close by. To get there you can take train, bus or car. Drive on the right.
