About Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth
The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, known as The Modern, sits opposite the Kimbell in the cultural district. The 2002 building is by Japanese architect Tadao Ando: five glass-and-smooth-concrete pavilions that appear to float over a large reflecting pool.
The collection gathers modern and contemporary art from the mid-20th century onward, with works by Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter, Anselm Kiefer and others, as well as large sculptures and installations. Outside, Richard Serra’s sculpture Vortex raises rolled steel plates.
The museum café looks out over the reflecting pool.
