About Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Cuyahoga Valley National Park protects about 13,000 hectares of the Cuyahoga River valley, between Cleveland and Akron, with forests, wetlands, farms and historic villages. It’s a different kind of park than the great Western parks: it sits between two cities and is crossed by roads and a railway.

Brandywine Falls, about 20 meters high, is the most visited spot, reached by a wooden boardwalk. The Towpath Trail follows the 19th-century Ohio & Erie canal towpath and is used for hiking and cycling. The rock formations at the Ledges and the Beaver Marsh wetlands, home to herons and beavers, complete the route.

The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad runs through the valley and allows you to combine a bike ride on the trail with a return by train. There is no entrance fee to the park.
