SAV airport is about 15 km from downtown. The train station is about 6 km away. I-95 and I-16 pass near the city; it’s about 175 km from Charleston.

When to go
In spring, the squares fill with blooming azaleas; in autumn, temperatures cool down again. July and August are sultry, and from June to November the coast follows hurricane bulletins.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
In the historic center, no: the squares are explored on foot, and there are city buses. For Bonaventure, Wormsloe and Tybee, use a car, which drives on the right.
