The city
Town on the island of Nantucket, about 50 km off the coast of Cape Cod, which was the world’s main whaling port in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The downtown has cobblestone streets, captains’ houses and the whaling museum. Brant Point Light marks the harbor entrance, and on the island’s east side is the village of Siasconset, with cottages covered in roses. The whole island is a historic district.
