About Windows Section
The Windows Section is in the center of Arches National Park, in an area of large sandstone rocks where several arches are just minutes’ walk from the parking lot. It’s the easiest way to see large arches up close without long hikes.
A short trail of about 1.6 km passes by North Window and South Window, two arches side by side that, seen from behind, form what looks like a pair of glasses, and by Turret Arch, a smaller arch next to a stone tower. On the other side of the parking area, another short trail leads to Double Arch, two arches that originate from the same point and intersect overhead, one of the tallest in the park.
On the way to the Windows Section is Balanced Rock, a large boulder balanced on a thin pedestal, and the Garden of Eden overlook, with towers and cliffs.
The area is very visited at midday. Early in the morning, light comes through the arches and there is more space for photography.
