How many days
Half a day is enough for the old town, the bridge and the castle with the museum. A full day allows walking or cycling to the church of Crngrob and returning at a relaxed pace.
When to go
From May to October, when walks and bike rides around the surroundings are more pleasant. In summer there are events in the old town. In the years when the Passion of Škofja Loka is staged, performances take place during Lent and Holy Week and draw large crowds.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
Not for the old town, which is small and almost entirely pedestrian. The station is far from the center, but there are city buses. A car only matters for Crngrob, which can also be reached on foot or by bicycle, and for the villages in the Sora valleys.
