About El Dahar

El Dahar is Hurghada’s oldest part, in the north of the city, between the hill and the sea. It hosts the souq, with spice, perfume, fabric and handicraft shops, cafés and Egyptian food restaurants frequented by residents.

By the harbor, the El Mina mosque, with two tall minarets, marks the neighborhood, near the fishermen’s pier. The fish market is nearby, with the day’s catch.

El Dahar shows the city of locals, different from the resort strip to the south.

Near the market are bakeries and small Egyptian food outlets, such as koshari and fuul, frequented by residents and cheaper than those in the resorts.
