About El Gouna Lagoons
The lagoons of El Gouna are located on the northern side of the town, where the coast forms shallow, calm water areas protected by sandbanks. The north wind, almost constant, makes them one of the kitesurfing and windsurfing spots on the Egyptian coast.
The schools at the edge of the lagoons give lessons to beginners, who can stand in the shallow water, and rent equipment for more experienced riders. Around them there are sandy beaches and cafés.
Boats also travel the lagoons and canals that cross the town, offering a relaxed tour of El Gouna’s islands.
The strongest wind season usually runs from spring to the end of summer, but there are lessons year-round. Some schools offer multi-day courses with certification.
