About Agabat Valley (Wadi Agabat)
The Agabat valley lies on the northern edge of the Farafra depression, just south of the quartz crystals. It is a valley of cliffs and white limestone hills, with golden sand dunes descending the slopes.
4x4 tours drive down the dunes and stop at viewpoints above the valley before continuing to the White Desert formations. The landscape changes with the light, especially in late afternoon.
Agabat is often crossed on the same day as arrival to the White Desert on tours departing from Bawiti.
The sandy slopes are steep, and experienced drivers make the descent carefully; those who prefer can walk down. From the top you can see the White Desert plain beginning to the south.
