About Hermenegildo Beach
Hermenegildo is the resort where residents of Santa Vitória do Palmar and the surrounding region spend the summer. It is on the municipality’s coast, southeast of the seat, facing the Atlantic, north of Barra do Chuí. The summer houses line up close to the beach along simple streets.
The beach is open to the sea, with light-colored, wide sand and waves that arrive without barriers. Wind is frequent and the water is usually cold, as along the extreme southern coast. The sand strip continues for dozens of kilometers to the north and south.
In summer, the resort receives families, fishermen and people who walk along the shore. Off season it is quiet, with few houses open.
The coast between Hermenegildo and Barra do Chuí can be walked along at the waterline, crossing small streams that run down to the beach.
